Residents of Dombivli will face a water supply shutdown on November 26, 2024, as the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) undertakes essential repairs at the water treatment plant and on distribution channels in the city. The water supply will be unavailable from 11 am to 6 pm due to ongoing work at the Netivali water treatment plant and repairs on leaking distribution channels in the F, C, and H sections of Dombivli.
The municipality’s water supply department has issued a notification advising residents to store sufficient water in advance, as the water supply will be completely cut off during the scheduled period. There is also a possibility of reduced water pressure on the following day, as the supply will be gradually restored. The repairs are part of the ongoing efforts to fix leaks and malfunctioning valves in the distribution lines that have caused water seepage, particularly in the affected wards.
The leakage has led to water flowing through the streets, further complicating the situation. Local authorities have indicated that work on these issues could not be undertaken earlier due to the staff being occupied with assembly election duties over the past two months. However, with the elections concluded, the KDMC has prioritised these repairs, aiming to resolve the issue and ensure a more reliable water supply in the future. Residents in Dombivli East and West, especially in the F, C, and H sections, are urged to make preparations to cope with the temporary disruption. The KDMC has reassured the public that these repairs, though inconvenient, are crucial for improving the long-term efficiency and sustainability of the water supply system in the area.
