Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday inspected the ongoing construction of the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway and confirmed that the elevated road connecting Dehradun to Delhi is nearing completion. Once finished, the new expressway will significantly reduce travel time between the two cities, making the journey faster and more convenient.
CM Dhami expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways for their support in bringing this key infrastructure project to fruition. He emphasized that the expressway, which includes Asia’s largest wildlife corridor, was being built with a perfect balance of ecology and economy. This corridor ensures that wildlife movements are safe and uninterrupted, making the project environmentally responsible as well as development-oriented.
The expressway, which spans 210 km, will connect Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Uttar Pradesh, benefiting both travel and economic activities. CM Dhami highlighted that with the completion of this expressway, travel time between Dehradun and Delhi will be reduced to just two and a half hours, opening up opportunities for tourism, business, and overall economic growth in Uttarakhand. Currently, a 32 km stretch of the expressway is ready for inauguration, with the full project expected to be inaugurated in the last week of December or early January. The completion of this expressway marks a significant milestone for regional connectivity and infrastructure development.
