Transforming Lives: KDMC’s Rehabilitation Center Opens Doors

Kalyan-Dombivli, India – In a significant step towards inclusive healthcare, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has launched a new rehabilitation center dedicated to providing comprehensive care to physically and mentally challenged citizens. The center, which will be operational from next month, is a testament to the civic body’s commitment to improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.

The rehabilitation center, located at the Mahila Kalyan Kendra Vastu in Kalyan, will offer a wide range of services, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, medical consultation, psychological counseling, and speech therapy. These services will be provided free of cost to residents of Kalyan-Dombivli, ensuring accessibility for all. The initiative was spearheaded by KDMC Commissioner Indurani Jakhar, who recognized the urgent need for such a facility in the twin cities. The center will be managed by a team of medical experts, including trained physiotherapists, under the supervision of the KDMC’s Social Development department.

The civic body has allocated ₹4.75 crore for the rehabilitation center over the next three years, demonstrating its commitment to the project. The construction of the center is already underway, and it is expected to be fully functional by the end of the year. The launch of the rehabilitation center is a major milestone for the thousands of people with disabilities living in Kalyan-Dombivli. Many of these individuals have faced significant challenges in accessing the healthcare services they need. The center will provide them with a much-needed lifeline, offering hope and support.

The KDMC’s initiative is a testament to the importance of inclusive healthcare and the positive impact it can have on the lives of individuals with disabilities. By investing in rehabilitation services, the civic body is not only improving the well-being of its citizens but also creating a more equitable and inclusive society.
