RWITC Plans Elite Clubhouse with World-Class Amenities

The Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC) is poised to elevate its facilities at the Mahalaxmi racecourse with an ambitious new project. Following the recent agreement securing a 30-year lease extension for the 92.6-acre portion of the racecourse land under its jurisdiction, the RWITC is preparing to submit an elaborate proposal to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

This plan includes the development of a premier clubhouse featuring an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis, squash, and basketball courts, along with a nine-hole golf course. The proposed clubhouse will also encompass over 50 rooms for members, multiple utility stores, four dining establishments, a fully equipped gymnasium, a spa, and a beauty salon. This development is set to redefine luxury and recreational standards for Mumbai’s elite clubs, surpassing existing facilities in the city.

The recent deal has seen the BMC take control of 120 acres of the racecourse land, earmarking it for transformation into an international-standard garden and theme park. The RWITC retains the remaining 92.6 acres, which will be dedicated to uninterrupted racing activities and the construction of the new clubhouse. The RWITC’s managing committee has approved the clubhouse design, which is expected to be a significant upgrade from current offerings. The enhancements will not only cater to sports enthusiasts but also offer a high-end leisure experience for members.

This development comes amidst Mumbai’s ongoing efforts to enhance its public and recreational infrastructure. With the RWITC’s new plan, the Mahalaxmi racecourse is set to become a premier destination, offering an array of top-tier amenities and reinforcing Mumbai’s reputation as a hub for luxury and high-end sports facilities. The new clubhouse aligns with RWITC’s vision of providing exceptional facilities and services, setting a new benchmark for exclusive club amenities in the city. As the proposal moves forward, it promises to bring a fresh dimension of opulence and functionality to Mumbai’s recreational landscape.
