MHADA Boosts Sales Drive for Affordable Housing in Konkan Region

The Konkan Housing and Area Development Board of MHADA has launched an ambitious campaign to accelerate the sale of flats under the First-Come, First-Serve (FCFS) scheme. Targeting Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Low-Income Groups (LIG), and Middle-Income Groups (MIG), these homes are part of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY-Urban).

Located in Virar-Bolinj, Khoni-Kalyan, Shirdhon-Kalyan, Gotheghar-Thane, and Bhandarli-Thane, the flats aim to address affordable housing demands in the region. Revati Gaikar, Chief Officer of the Konkan Board, announced the establishment of 29 information stalls from December 2 to 11, 2024, across municipal and public spaces to guide prospective buyers. These stalls will offer detailed insights into the available flats, eligibility criteria, and the online application process through MHADA’s official portal, lottery.mhada.gov.in. To further amplify awareness, MHADA is organising street plays and distributing flyers. The online registration process began on October 11, 2024. An official revealed that over 10,000 applications have been received for nearly 14,500 flats under the PMAY and open lottery schemes. “We are scrutinising the applications, and the deadline may be extended beyond December 10, if necessary,” she said.

Deputy CEO Anil Wankhade urged applicants to seize this opportunity, part of a broader initiative by MHADA Vice-President Sanjeev Jaiswal to sell unsold inventory across Maharashtra. The stalls are strategically located at municipal corporation offices in Vasai-Virar, Mira-Bhayandar, Ulhasnagar, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, and Thane, as well as district collector offices, RTOs, and railway stations in major towns. Mahesh Jeswani, MHADA’s Chief Engineer, assured buyers of well-equipped projects featuring essential amenities such as 24-hour water supply, lifts, firefighting systems, and eco-friendly measures like sewage treatment plants and organic waste converters. With comprehensive information, assistance on documentation, and on-the-spot issue resolution, MHADA aims to streamline the buying process and address housing needs effectively.
